Mr. Brian has been a passionate adolescent teacher for twenty years, teaching everything from humanities to maths & sciences to world languages. As a teacher, he embraces Socratic principles and real-world learning, which is often naturally integrated across conventional disciplines. His students have created school yearbooks, planned their own field trips, operated their own businesses, participated in extensive internships, created digital portfolios of their work, competed successfully in national essay and video competitions, and engaged in exchanges with students from France, Argentina, Germany and China.

In addition to his passion for pedagogy, Brian enjoys ballroom dancing, languages (spoken and computer programming), economics, cycling, rowing, robotics, camping, hiking, canoeing, reading, writing, traveling and playing Ultimate Frisbee. Brian has always loved working with Middle School students, especially those in 7th and 8th grades, and is excited to lead the Crystal Lake Montessori Middle School program.
