Crystal Lake Montessori School

Sheryl Camacho

Spanish Teacher and Librarian

Ms. Sheryl has been teaching Spanish for many years in both public and Montessori schools for many years. She also taught high school literature in Bogotá Colombia for 3 years. She met and married her husband in Colombia and they returned to Wisconsin to raise their 3 children. Two of her children attended ChildrenÅ› House in Minnesota.

It has always been her passion to guide students toward a love of language, culture, and lifelong learning.

Ms. Sheryl says:

I learned about Montessori from a lifelong friend who was a Montessori teacher. We visited her school and fell in love with the beautiful calm classrooms and Montessori materials. We enrolled our daughter and I began teaching Spanish to all students. I loved watching not only my students, but also my daughter, grow in their understanding of the world around them.

My favorite trip was to Colombia. I went for a year and stayed for three! Colombia is a diverse country in many ways which adds to its beauty. The people are the happiest and most giving in the world, they grow and cook delicious food, and the music and dance are lively all the time. The landscapes from the Pacific, Atlantic and Caribbean Sea as well as rainforests and mountains, make Colombia a beautiful place to live and visit. We visit family and friends as often as possible.

My favorite foods are Colombian such as ajiaco soup, fresh seafood, empanadas, and a variety of tropical fruits and juices. I also enjoy traditional Indian and Mexican food.

My favorite quote is by Ralph Waldo Emerson. "Many eyes go through the meadow, but few see the flowers in it." It serves as a reminder to look for the beauty in every situation and enjoy the journey.
